Taking a bus from P.Garibaldi ?

A word of advice for anyone planning to catch a bus at the main depot, in the centre of Piazza Garibaldi... be sure to allow yourself extra time to find where it leaves from!

Here - from Google's StreetView - is how the square used to look....

Although the engineers began the square's "requalification" even before work at Napoli Centrale station had finished, since we were there last they're reached a whole different level - quite literally.... as these photos, taken by someone who got a look through the hoardings, demonstrate...

If that link doesn't work, try....

Those are from last month, so it may be a while before things return to normal - or even to NFN.

For a sight of where it's all leading - the Naples of the future, with a Metropolitana service that runs from the airport, through P.Garibaldi and out to Piazza Municipio for the harbour etc - try...

Should have posted this before, but we went through Napoli Centrale last month - and things are moving ahead apace...

Just beyond the area kept for the station taxis and dropoffs, a small part of Piazza Garibaldi is again in use as a depot for buses (both the city's ANM services and those on long-distance routes), so finding where to catch those is a lot simpler than it's been!

However construction work for the shopping centre and underground car parks continues to occupy most of the rest of the piazza, and there's still quite a way to go.

Had my hands full at the time but, for an an idea of progress, have a look at the photos here...

And again earlier this month...

The work is visibly progressing, and the buses seem to be using a slightly larger area now - however there's still quite a long way to go!
