Parking a car in Naples for the day

I have read that car theft is prevalent in Naples. I will be visiting Naples this July on a trip from Rome to Positano. I wanted to stop in Naples and spend 1/2 a day there. What is the safest way to visit Naples with a car?

will this be a rental car ? Most rental companies have sectioned off parking in places like the main railway station and the airport (frequent buses) but if your rental company has a parking area there, it will probably be at its safest, as they will have 'guards' patrolling. Otherwise, take lots of 'locking' equipment for the car, and leave nothing on view - put anything you bring in the boot. Good luck !

better still... go to Positano, leave the car there, and take the ferry to Naples, it arrives at the port right in the centre of town, by the castle, so you won't even need to catch a bus... just walk around.

Nolana - you probably meant Sorrento?

Good idea that... tickets €11, timetable here:

There's almost certainly going to be no service, ferry or hydrofoil, between Naples and Positano this year!

Drive to the airport. Park your car there. Take the Alibus (3 euro) to the train station or the area around the port.
