Until March, a Rembrandt in, a Caravaggio out

Hadn't noticed this until today, but for the next couple of months the city has a Dutch/Russian visitor....

The Galleria di Palazzo Zevallos Stigliano - which is just off Via Toledo, only a street or two from the Royal Palace, Piazza del Plebiscito etc - have lent their Caravaggio to Moskow's Puskin Museum, who in exchange have sent a Rembrandt to keep its hook warm...

Wow, that's interesting.

Against my first instincts, I paid the admission to see the Caravaggio, and in the end was happy to have done so. I need to tell some of my Naples-loving friends about this, as I'll bet it's not widely known.

Hopefully both the Rembrandt and Caravaggio are back in their respective homes by now, but - especially during this spell of unpleasant weather - something else that may be of interest is a touring exhibition, at the Galleria until June 24....

Entitled "L'Italia e gli Italiani" - "Italy and the Italians" - it's a collection of photos by nine members of the Magnum agency, in celebration of the country's 150th anniversary.

Details and a few examples here:

Although not one of the places to which the Artecard gives free entrance, with it you do get a reduction off the usual price - which is now €4... with no extra charge for the exhibition!
