Arrival in Naples with Rental Car - WWYD

What Would You Do: picking up my sister at FCO on 24 April then heading to Naples where car will be dropped off, then heading to Excelsior Hotel. Would you drop at airport? At a town prior to Naples such as Formia or some other and then train to Naples? Do not want to drive to Centrale. Advice…please and thank you.

Also, FYI on the whole car thing. I have been in Naples for a week and plan to be here for a few more. When I arrived at the Napoli airport they informed me there is currently a high number of car thefts. Especially the new Fiats and Alfa Romeos. I do have a car but other than driving to and from work, I keep it in the garage and walk. If you are not accustomed to driving in Italy, it can get a bit crazy. I have found it is not as bad as it looks. Drivers are pretty courteous, you just have to stay alert because it seems stop lights/signs are optional and the mopeds have no rules at all. Everything can be reached on foot (plus it helps burn off all of the delicious food I have been eating!). I plan to take the train to Rome and back this weekend.
