Walk from port to Museum?

I have driven in Naples (an experience, of course!) but haven't navigated much on foot. We have a few hours (6ish) to spare before our ferry leaves for Palermo so we would like to check out the National Archaeological Museum. Would you suggest we park at Beverello and walk to and from the museum or just park near the museum and then drive to the port when we are finished? Since driving there isn't the safest thing I have ever done, I am curious if walking (with a pram) is any better.

From Beverello to the museum it's something like 20-25 minutes walking, you just need to go to Via Toledo, the pedestrian street shopping, and turn right until the museum, if it's not so hot you better consider to do it walking instead of driving...

Via Toledo looks like great fun; it seems to have a lot of energy. Thanks for the input-- this is what we will do.

You can't drive in the centro anyway because of the ZTL, so park at the port.

To the museum is an uphill climb, so you might want to grab a bus up and walk back.

The closest bus stop is on Via Medina, just past Calata San Marco (on the other side of the fountain). There you can catch one of several buses that stop at the museo.

Take no notice of the mountain goats on the site....... the museum is a hell of a long way. especially in the heat.

Why waste valuable walking time...... get a cab to the NAM, there's way too much to see in a day, do a little research, to pick out what you feel are the best bits, then walk back, if you still have the time and energy.

With such limited time, I agree with Vinny, grab a cab at Beverello. Although it's only a mile and a quarter to the museum, the time you save will be well worth it.

There is a fixed fare scheme for taxis in Naples, the fare from Beverello/Piazza Municipio to the museo is only 7 Euro, but you must ask for this fare before the trip begins. In other words, before getting in the cab tell the driver you want the tariffa predeterminate of 7 Euro.

You could take a cab there and walk back.

It is a fun walk down via Toldedo - you'll pass Piazza Dante and if you have time, could take a walk inside Porta Alba and see Piazza Bellini in the historic centre.

The lower section of Via Toledo is pedestrian and runs into Piazza Plebescito which is a lovely wide open space. If your baby can walk it will be a great place to run around before you get back to your car.
