Bibione, beach resort north of Venice anyone?

Can't stay away from Rome forum since visited at Easter.Rome fab/hectic trip in 3 days.Fell in love with Italy and want to return with the kids-aged 16, 11 and 6.

Looking for info on this resort before I book for family holls 2008.

Not much info available but it looks a lovely spa town with hot springs and our typical beach holiday with the added bonus of trips to Venice, Verona, Garda possible.our eldest wants to visit Rome but not sure its possible?

Trieste is our airport. villaggio planetarium our possible accomodation.

Anyone know the area?Tell me its not too tacky?

ps posted also on Venice forum.

You will probably get more replies if you post on the Venice Forum. Why don't you look into staying at the Lido..a beach resort closer to Venice?

Agatha, thank you for reply. I have also posted on venice forum with no answer as yet.

I got the impression that lido was more geared to clubbers than families thats why im looking at Bibione. Is this a wrong impression?Lido looks more central to touring/public transport though we hope to hire car for a 3/4 days.Is that advisable?

Tell me why you think Lido may be better?

Thanks in anticipation!

Raon:

If you go to the search box on thelefthand side of the page and type in the Lido many postings will come up. The Lido is where many people ,who live in Venice ,go with their families for holidays. To my knowledge it is not for the 20 something clubber.

There are some charming small hotels and the beach is nice and family friendly.

Lots of small places to eat and not too expensive.

the Lido is close enough to Venice that you can go in and sight see and then return so your kids can un-wind and splash in the water.

You said you wnted to go to Verona and a few other places. That is easy there is fast train service to many places close to Venice.

IMHO I would not have a car. One it is expensive to park it at Pz Roma (about 30 euros a day). Two you you cant drive in Venice.

I don't know the place you inquired about. Perhaps it is heaven on earth?? I just suggested The Lido because it has many things for a nice family holiday.

Agatha, thanks,

really appreciate your information.will look at lido more carefully though accomodation for 5 with air conditioning and facilities for kids is usually difficult to find and i'm told, more so in Italy.

Were obviously working within a budget and want to see as much as we can while allowing the kids have their fun.

ps if you've any ideas for us in Lido please say.

Thanks again for advice on driving etc.

That is what you get when you are left handed. You know Sophie I typed right then thought no it is left. Oh well they will find it. Good practice to learn to search. :)

Thanks for the heads up...

Raon depends where you mean is it Venice Lido or Lido di Jesolo.?

Lido di Jesolo is aq bit like Blackpool with good weather in my opinion.

Bibione has a bit more of an Italian feel to it to be honest but that bit further from Venice.

Depends how much time you want to be in Venice and how much you want a beach resort as a base for exploring.

I was not suggesting you go to Lido di Jesolo. To use your words it is on the "tacky "side.

I was suggesting ai Lido 15 minutes by vaporetti from San Marco.

Google ...Villa Stella via Sandro Gallo or

Agriturismo le Garzette. I have read it is a nice place for families/

Good luck
