Via dei Pettinari - central enough and safe?

Hi

Have looked into a place to stay on Via dei Pettinari near Campo de fiori. Quick questions on:

- How central is it? (Have a 4.5 yr and 7.5 yr, walks reasonably well)

- Is it safe at night say on way back from restaurants or Piazza Navona?

- is it well connected by bus etc?

- How much should I expect to pay in these areas for a Studio/1 bed on budget acco?

Travelling on march 30 - 2nd april..

rome is a safe city so coming back from dinner should not be a problem for you and your family.

The area is pretty central and you should easily be able to walk to the main sites.

Can't help with buses as I never use them.

How much a studio will cost will depend on the studio. Some are nicer than others with more amenities. Check venere.com for apartments and hotels. You can compare prices to see if you got a good deal.

We spent one New Year's in the Hotel Ponte Sisto which is there - towards the river end - and found it fine.

Quite busy with pedestrians crossing from Trastevere to the Campo, but that makes it better probably, and hardly any vehicle traffic.

I'd not hesitate to stay on that street again, just need to win the Lottery before we can go back to the same hotel!

Via Pettinari is safe and for walking with kids, it's a good location; very central. You will have the added bonus of a really nice grocery store on your street, a fine cut pizza place just across the Ponte Sisto, and, of course, the bakeries and restaurants surrounding the Campo. Also handy: buses run up and down the street along the river -- the east side (your side) buses go up, on the Trastevere side, they run down. They get you easily north and south. Nearby Largo Argentina has a lot of buses to pick up etc. On the downside, the street leads directly to Ponte Sisto, so you have a lot of loud, mostly young adults, walking the street until the wee hours, getting between the bars in Trastevere and the bars in Campo dei Fiori. Make sure you get bedrooms off the street.
