Fontanna dei Quattro Fium Renovation ????

I read that the Fontanna is under renovation. Is this true, if so do you know hen it will be finished ?

Suggestions for hotels $ 200-250 in this area?

Much appreciated!

It was fine last October and had been renovated in 2008 so it seems unlikely. Maybe just a winter dust and polish. A local might be able to advise.

As to somewhere to stay, try the marvellous B&B just off P Navona called Relais al Senato. Excellent accommodation, guards outside the door because the senate is just over the road, an elevator, nice breakfast.

It is under renovation again, has been for some weeks now. Read in some newspaper the reason but it escapes me now, but not supposed to take as long as the last one. There are "windows" in the fence around it, so you can get a peek, though the overall impact is of course subdued.

Indeed there is work going on - here's how it looked on Valentine's Day:

And the view through one of those windows.....

That said, having seen it surrounded with hoardings in June 2007:

and again in August 2008:

it comes as quite a surprise to hear they'd bothered taking them down in the meanwhile!

Perhaps somebody REALLY important paid a visit?
