Diet question

I can´t drink milk - just soy milk - but love to have a nice cup of coffee. It´s been a while since my last visit to Italy, so I wonder if it is possible to get

a latte with soy milk at some places??

If not, do they sell soy milk in stores?

Thank you,

1. Re: Diet question

soy milk is commonly sold in supermarkets, some bars/hotels do have it on customers' request and normally are the very high class type of place. My suggestion is get in touch ahead of time with the place you will be staying at and ask if they can get some soy milk on your behalf.

Many bars/cafes in the center of Rome offer the option of having a cappuccino with soy milk, but it's usually 1 euro more...

When ordering a 'latte', please say "latte macchiato", otherwise you'll be getting a plain ol' glass of (soy) milk. :)

Yes to both questions! A lot more bars around the city offer soy instead of milk for drinks. And Soy milk is fairly easy to find in supermarkets and in any of the many health food shops you will pass.

You'll be happy to know that some gelaterias also have Gelato di Soia (which are usually both sugar and dairy free), such as the chain Blu Ice and the famous Della Palma near the Pantheon.
