What to do in Roma on a Monday?

Hello: We are visiting Roma in October and have our Vatican Day for Tuesday. Since most museums are closed on Mondays-what suggestions can you give me?

Is Tivioli Villa d'Este and Hadrians summer house open?

Appreciate any help you give us.

The Forum/Colosseum/Palatine complex is open Monday. Villa Adriana seems to be; Villa d'Este is not. Galleria Doria-Pamphilj in a Renaissance palace still owned by the family is open, as is the Villa Farnesina with its Raphael frescoes (last admission 12:40 pm). Churches, which house some of the best art in Rome, are all open.

The Vatican Museums would have been a good option, but you're doing it Tuesday.

The Roman Forum/ Palatine Hill/ Colosseum sites are open on Mondays.

The Galleria Doria Pamphilj is open Mondays. This is a lovely Renaissance palazzo with some excellent art displayed, as well as some less-than-great art. The palazzo is still owned and partly inhabited by descendants of the Doria Pamphilj family, and the art is the family's collection.

The Villa Farnesina is open Monday mornings. A Renaissance villa with some very nice frescoes.

You can visit some of the many churches of Rome, some with art that would be the envy of great museums.

The three villas in Tivoli are all closed on Mondays, so that's not a good idea.

We recently did Colosseum, Forum and Vatican on Monday and it worked great.

On further investigation, I may be wrong about the Villa Adriana being closed on Mondays. The Villa Gregoriana and the Villa d'Este are definitely closed on Mondays, though.

How about one of the themed walks in this leaflet?

I quite like this as well..

Things like fountains and most churches should be visitable, but - as they're both a few years old now - you might be best to cross-check any time/date details quoted!

Otherwise, if you've not been, it might be a good opportunity to see Pompei?
