The website for Roma Pass says that the passes are not currently available. Are these available only at certain times, or is this just online availability?

Until a Rome resident chimes in, no one really knows. The Roma & Piu Pass goes in and out of availability for longish periods of time, but as far as I know, this is the first time the regular Roma Pass has been unavailable.
I suspect - but do not know - that the Tourist Information Points do not have enough passes on hand to supply online demand. Unofficial suppliers like newsstands and tabacchi may still have some, as may some of the participating museums.
The city of Rome's Web site goes on and on - and on! - about all the things they're doing to promote tourism, and then they let the Roma Pass become unavailable during highest season...! And neither of the city's two tourism sites has anything to say about it: not that it's unavailable, or why, or for how long.
I'll be in Rome this weekend, and if no one else has an answer before then, I'll try to find out what's going on.
Oppie1, thanks for posting, I just saw they were unavailable and panicked a little. Bvlenci, I definitely would appreciate an update from someone in-country - we are leaving for Rome next week and I had counted on that RomaPass! I'll be watching this topic!

Roma Pass are temporary not available online but you should be able to find some "left over" at he less known selling spot. Here, a full list: http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic-g187791-i22-k4624064-Roma_Pass-Rome_Lazio.html
Enjoy your holiday and....good luck!
For those watching this thread, here's Donna's post in another thread about Roma Pass availability (not that the reply she received will tell you much):
>>This is the email I received from the people at the romapass today.
****both Roma Pass and Roma&Più Pass are currently not available due to technical problems. We still don’t know when these problems will be solved. It may be a question of days or a couple of weeks, but I’m not sure about it. I advice you to keep checking the Roma Pass website, when the cards will be available again you will be able to purchase them online or at local retailers.****
It looks like it's not a problem with them having sold out just some sort of technical error. Hopefully, they will have it resolved soon.

In Italy you sometimes see the term "Momentarily Out Of Order" Don't wait around for the moments to pass
I've just returned from a weekend in Rome. I never made it to a tourist office, but I did see that Roma Passes are still available at the museums I visited. In fact, when I mentioned the online availability at one museum (the Palazzo Corsini) they hadn't heard of this unavailability. They speculated that it might be due to a change in conditions or pricing, but said they would continue to distribute the current pass, and that all other museums would still honor it.
Here is a "bit'" of the e-mail I recieved regarding availability.
I apologize for the delay of this my reply but we had some technical problems. I hope I am still in time.
