Rome Hotels if money was no object

After reading all the good recommendations - most mentioning budget accomodations, are the any recommendations for the higher end hotels and tours? If a traveler wanted high end and comfort without ridiculous cancellation fees - what are your recommendations ?

I would suggest reading the cancellation policy of each hotel before booking it.

In the few weeks you have been posting about the cancelation policies, you still haven't been able to find one place that is acceptable to you?

I have been in contact with legitimate hotels in Rome that have a free or very liberal cancellation policy!

Moving forward, I would like some ideas and answers to my specific question?

Thank you!

How high-end? Raphael, Hassler, De Russie, De la Minerve, Aldrovandi Palace...

You still have to read the cancellation policies *before* booking, though.

I like having a choice on the cancellation policy. If you can get a big enough discount by accepting a heavy cancellation policy, can live with it, and most importantly read and understand it, choice is a good thing.

That being said, Zerlina's choices are as usual right on.

I think you got very good suggestions for your specific question.

"If a traveler wanted high end and comfort without ridiculous cancellation fees - what are your recommendations ?"

Along with specific hotel names I think it's VERY important for you to thoroughly read the cancellation policies of each hotel in order to avoid the situation you just experienced. As for my specific hotel suggestions, if you can give us a budget per night that would help.
