Rome at night

My SO and I are in Rome in April for 4 nights, we are staying in Trastevere. I am looking for ideas of where to go walking in the evenings before and after dinner. Interesting places with open shops, people watching, good vibe. If anyone can give me neighborhoods and specifics (ie. Piazzas/sites) no need for food/drink recs as I have lots of those, just need to narrow down where we want to be.

Trastevere itself or anywhere in the historic center between the Trevi Fountain and Ponte Vittorio Emanuele II.

Trevi Fountain itself will still be buzzing at night, and it looks completely different vs day time.

For me, the Portico d'Ottavia is one of the most atmospheric corners of Rome at night. I also think it is thrilling to see the Colosseum at night, although you'd probably want some wheels to do that.

If you are staying in Trastevere, crossing the bridges and heading over toward the via Giulia, via di Monserrato, via del Pellegrino, the piazza Farnese, L'arco degli Acetari all make for some memorable strolling.

I dislike the drinking scene in the Campo de'Fiori, but it's easily skirted.

Ahhh, I love when people are up for strolling in Rome : ) . It's very Italianesque you know. "Passeggiata" means a 'stroll' in Italian and this is definitely my favorite way to spend an evening in Rome : )

Places to stroll In Trastevere:

Piazza di Maria in Trastevere (there are usually street performers here too)

Piazza Trilussa (usually locals--20s and 30s hang out here)

From Piazza Trilussa, go across the romantic footbridge, Ponte Sisto, which brings you across the Tiber river. Once you cross the bridge, walk straight across the street and this will bring you to Campo de' Fiori, another lively square in Rome.

Enjoy!
