Hartford, CT to Amalfi

Please advise as to best time, route from Hartford to Amalfi.. I know that Naples is close, but would flying into Rome be less expensive.. just starting to research this trip. I was also thinking about going to Paris on the way or back. Any advice greatly appreciated.

You might want to fly out of one of the NYC airports as it might be cheaper than BDL - but to compare flights and locations check www.kayak.com

Most often when flying from BDL, you will have at least one US layover before hitting Europe and/or Italy. Depending on the airline and their codeshare partners and which are their airport "hubs" determines which might be cheaper to fly into.

We just went to Positano, just east of Amalfi, and a good peice of advice is arrange a Car service from the airport or train station before you arrive. We did the metro to Sorrento and then taxi to Positano, so not worth the 20 euro we saved. It also took alot longer. It was about 100 euro total. The hotels can arrange for your transportation back to airport or train station.
