Help please Rome in the rain

Hi there,

I cannot believe our luck its been lovely and sunny in Rome the past week or so and we are due to go on Sunday and its raining. We are only there for 3 nights and this is my first time in Rome. I am gutted. Please can anyone help on things to do in the rain. :-( Thank you

It's not that bad: Il Meteo has only scattered clouds Sunday evening, scattered clouds and covered but no rain on Monday, and scattered clouds again on Tuesday. And if it does rain, museums, churches, cafes, restaurants and shops all let you get out of the rain.

Just a quick warning: The Vatican museums are closed on Monday 19th, (and of course Sunday), so if your only day to visit is Tuesday, you may want to consider reserving your tickets, especially if you go in the morning.

Get to the Pantheon. The sight of rain falling through the oculus is something you will never forget. Once you see how beautiful it is, you will be glad you were in Rome on a rainy day. The whole city takes on a melancholy mood in the rain and has it's own particular charm. You should still have a fabulous time.

The Capitoline Museums, Pantheon (as above, amazing, look for the tiny drain holes in the floor), any church, all of which are free and stuffed with art, the Vatican Museums and Sistine chapel, St Peters. If you can, the Borghese (need to book in advance). The list is very long, probably more so than any other city.

We have been to Rome three times and it has bucketed rain every time!! We still found plenty to do with the Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel the Pantheon etc. There are always plenty of good restaurants and a ready supply of umbrellas for sale.
