Yes they will be open. Rome is lovely on Sundays, there is a more relaxed feel to the city with lots of families strolling about. Mass is held on Sunday's of course so keep that in mind if you plan on visiting any churches.

Have a great time.

The Vatican Museums are closed on Sundays, as well as the Doria Pamphilj Gallery, the Villa Farnesina, and some other private museums.

Most churches have mass every day of the week, usually at least twice, morning and evening. The major basilicas have mass five or six times a day, every day..

We went on an excursion out to the Appian Way on a Sunday (the road is closed to some traffic that day). First we went to the Knights of Malta Keyhole on Aventine Hill. We walked to the Baths of Caracalla and enjoyed seeing them. We walked to the Aurelian Walls and caught the bus out on the appian way. We had lunch. Visited a couple of the tiny museums, saw some of the free sites like Capo di Bove. Walked down some and turned around after a while and walked back stopping and seeing the San Callisto Catacombs. It was a wonderful Sunday :-)
