rome first time

hi we are looking for inexpensive rooms. maybe B&Bs in and around Rome. We have never been to Italy so any kind of help would be great.By the way we are a couple of old foggies in our 60s but act like teenagers. Will try anything once.Trying to fill the bucket list.

www.venere.com and www.booking.com for accommodations, read the reviews. The Pantheon is more central, the area around Termini is usually cheaper.

Use the HOHO Bus to get orientated quickly. Its also an excellent way to see the major attractions.

It really depends on what your budget is. A euro amount will help us with making recommendations.

If, as you say, you really are old fogies, be sure to see what story your room will be on. Or, make sure there is an elevator. 4 years ago we stayed in a lovely B&B, but getting our old fogie butts up the 3 flights of stairs at the end of a long day just about killed us!

You've chosen well with Beehive. Doubt you'll be disappointed. We've stayed there during a couple of our trips to Rome and have been quite pleased on both occasions. Do make sure you try their downstairs cafe, very nice organic food and a good option in the morning before you set out on your sightseeing efforts. See link (w/pictures).

Depends too, on how long you are staying. We use www.sleepinitaly.com because we can get much more space, have our own fridge and washing machine and choose the area we are staying.

Last trip we stayed here

sleepinitaly.com/en/…

at €120 a night. About 20 stairs. It was a fantastic flat and a really good location with nearby transport and a supermarket and a few blocks to walk to either the Vatican or Campo dei Fiori.
