Rome in August

I know it's traditionally the month of vacation for Italians, but is Rome much impacted by this? It's a good month for us to go but we won't if everything will be closed.

I can understand how the attractions in smaller towns would be impacted, but I am not sure if Rome will be.

Thanks so much for your help!

Hi Katie,

We were in Rome this past August and we experienced no disappointments whatsoever. All the major attractions, shops and restaurants were open, and while it was crowded in certain areas, it wasn't terribly overcrowded at all.

It is hot, so be prepared and you'll be fine.

KirkandMimi,

Were you in Rome at the end of August? I understand the last 2 weeks some things are cloed, this is exactly the time when we will be there!

Thanks
