Help us with the location

Hi, I just wanted to ask is this a good location for our trip to Rome: tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g187791-d244613… ? We do not mind walking around (as we are very young) but stil...a central location would be better. Vatican is actually one of our strongest reasons for visiting Rome but we have 4 days in Rome so we want to see some other thing too. Also, the last day our flight leaves in 9 AM (from FCO) so I do not know is that location good for early morning transport to Termini as we do not wanna pay for the taxi. If you have some other suggestions we would apriciete it a lot (it has to be max 100 EUR for night). Thank you

As long as you don't mind walking around a bit its good. Very close to St Peters Square and Basilica, Vatican Museums.Prati is quite a smart area too.

A short walk from St Peters Square to Castel S Angelo, then a little further to the historic centre. Its actually a very interesting walk via the Castel, the bridge with Bernini's angels, along to Piazza Navona, with the fountains, then along to the Pantheon. Mostly pedestrianised too.

If you don't want to walk, buses leave from Piazza Risorgimento, near St Peters.

Its quite a way from Termini, though- metro is probably the best bet if you want to avoid a taxi. Ottaviano stop.

In October we stayed in an apartment in the Prati area & found the area to be great. We are senior Aussies & walked to all the sites from there, enjoying all the shops etc. along the way. We felt safe, were away from the maddening crowds & found the "local" eateries to be cheaper & more obliging than in the more "touristy" areas. Great to sit outside a coffee shop for only E2 for a cappachino.

great to have a wide footpat

While I really like the Prati area, you might be more suited near Termini in light of you early flight.

You are going to have to leave Termini really early and staying in Prati and not wanting to take a taxi, will cause you to get up even earlier. Is the metro even running that early?

We stayed a 10 minute walk from Termini and really enjoyed the Monti area. Our hotel was E124/night. There must be some in that general are that meet your price point.

Have you plugged your dates into a hotel search and sorted by area to find something closer to Termini? Just an idea.

So, stay in Prati. From/to Fiumicino you can use the shuttle SitShuttle which arrives/leaves in Piazza Cavour for 8 euros. You definitely don't need to cross the city centre to go to Termini, especially to take the highly expensive train Leonardo Express (14 euros; for four people it is even more expensive than a taxi).

Thank you for all the advices. We are going to stay in Prati area because we think that area is better for us. The best advice was about SitShuttle. That helped us a lot :-)
