Dining in Rome on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day

My family will be in Rome on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day and are concerned about whether restaurants and shops will be open. Do you have any recommodations for restaurants with reasonable prices that will be open. We are staying at Hotel Penisone Paradise.

There will probably be a list of open restaurants published a bit later, but last year several people reported that there were plenty of restaurants open even though they were not on the list.

Here is a list in Italian, which is finally out. It has separate tabs for Vigilia di Natale (Christmas Eve), Natale (Christmas Day), Santo Stefano (St. Stephan's Day, Boxing Day), San Silvestro (New Year's Eve), and Capodanno (New Year's Day). There is some overlap with the other list, but this has more precise information.

Once you've selected the day, you can narrow down the zone of the city. Most people will want only those that start out with "Roma Centro", which means "central Rome", and is followed by a more specific neighborhood. Then you can look for the address on Google Maps. Those that say "Menù alla carta" have (surprise) a la carte dining, and usually don't have a price (€ n.d.). Those that have "Menù degustazione" offer a tasting menu, and usually have the price. Sometimes they also have a .pdf menu. Some have also a note in a blue balloon with an "i". The ones I've seen seem easy to figure out; one says they also have a vegetarian menu available, and one says you can also order a la carte. If you find one you can't figure out, you can try pasting the words into translate.google.com , or ask here for help.
