rome transportation advice

Hii

My wife and I will be travelling to Rome for 3 days from 6th to 8th June and will be staying at Sheraton Golf Resort. I believe that the hotel is located quite far from the city centre where all the major attractions are situated so were trying to figure out the best way to commute within Rome.

The hotel runs a shuttle to the city centre which costs 4 eur so is very economical but sometimes the timings may not match (for eg we have a 9AM tour booked at the vatican). Also, we'd like to stay later at night (I believe the last shuttle back to the hotel leaves the city centre at 9PM) and would want to avoid taking taxis as much as possible (since they may cost quite a bit).

Can you suggest a travel pass (I read somewhere that there is a BTI tram pass for 3 days, dont have any details though) which would work well for us and also whether the area near the hotel is safe at night, esp if we need to walk from a tram or train stop.

FYI we plan to go to the Spanish steps area from the hotel on the first day and return late at night...second day early morning go to Vatican and central rome and third day go to colosseum and roman forum/walk around city centre..

request if you can share any travel tips..thanks a ton..

This site should answer most (if not all) your questions re: different transportation tickets -

roninrome.com/%20transportation/tickets-for-…

You may want to go through some of the reviews to see if there are comments addressing your question re: safety of the walk:

You can also send a private message to a recent reviewer(s) and ask them directly about your question if you don't see useful comments on that issue.

Might I suggest checking the hotel's reviews here on TA - for previous guests' comments re public transport? Haven't looked, but usually a source of good advice!

There's a summary of what's available within the Rome area here...

turismoroma.it/infoviaggio/bus-tram-e-metro…

However if thinking of the 3 day pass - at €16.50 - and intending to visit some of the sites covered, do also check out the RomaPass (now €34).... as described on the left of this page:

.... with most of the questions you're perhaps about to ask already answered here:
