Thanks for your comments.

My favorite thing about Rome: the majesty and dignity of the city...and the fact that it is truly an open-air museum with ancient ruins everywhere, especially in the center. There are, of course, the main sights but there are also remnants of Ancient Rome integrated, seemingly blithely, into much later structures. You just stop for a gelato somewhere, turn your head, and see an ancient frieze or Doric column just sitting there looking at you. Stunning to me.

The camera -- I used two: my iPhone and a little Canon "Point and Shoot." The latter produced much clearer photos with better (more accurate) color.

Thanks for sharing your photos! Really inspiring. Do you have a favorite spot (in Rome) for:

taking sunset photos

roof top bar, garden for a city view?

really fun area, lots of locals chance to photo "life" not as a tourist?

Thanks Ew

There are several with ivy on the walls, so I'm not sure which one you mean. Almost all the photos are titled, so that will give you some information. If you give me a photo #, perhaps I can be more precise.

Thank you.

Sunset photos: I only took one -- St. Peter's from Ponte Garibaldi. I wasn't really looking for sunset photos per se. Usually, something just catches my eye (the colors, shapes, shadows and light) and I form a little composition of the scene.

Roof top bar: There's a nice rooftop garden at the Hotel Campo de' Fiori but I am not much help on this since I didn't visit any. Others on TA have and maybe they'll chime in with their favorites. I did like that spot from the Giardino degli Aranci in Aventine, especially because it was free of crowds.

I liked the following areas best: the southern part of Trastevere and the area just near the Porta Settimiana in the northern part of Trastevere, Testaccio, the western Navona area, and Aventine Hill.
