Historic Centre budget restaurants

I'll be in Rome five nights in October staying at the Hotel Portoghesi, near Piazza Navona, and travelling with my 13 year old son - who is adventurous with food. As we are away for a month, we're on a budget and would prefer to pay under 30 euros for dinner for the two of us.

I've got a few budget restaurant recommendations (one being La Montecarlo) but am looking for some more - particularly for cacio e pepe - so any recommendations or links are most welcome.

Thank you!

We ate at a restaurant near Piazza Navonna called Da Francesco and loved the food. We ate there a total of 2 times during our 7 day trip to Rome! With 2 entrees & dessert our bill was a little less than 30 euros for my bf & I. Found it on tripadvisor and would highly recommend it!

I wouldn't go to Rome without a visit to Navona Notte!

Tabata - to be honest if I try to say anything other than dove stazione il treno then I'll just make a brutta figura!! but I'll just try and enjoy everyone correcting my poor attempts !

Tabata! I forgot the e with the accent and remembered when I was at work today - honest!!

If I said that to someone, I would hope they would understand me. It's just getting up the courage to use my very limited skills without feeling foolish (and ending up making a brutta figura!).
