Tram and tickets?

Hi. We (two people) are travelling to Rome in the next few days. We will get to the main station about 8pm and need to get to our hotel as soon as possibe. The nearest tram stop seems to be Ankara Tiziano; is there a direct line from Termini to this stop? Also, where is the best place to buy tickets at that time as we won't have them in advance. Looking forward to exploring; just want to get checked in without hastle.

Thanks for your help.

That stop is on tram line 2. It starts at Piazza del Popolo, not at Termini station. You can get the Metro line A, direction Battistini, to Piazza del Popolo. The tram stop is outside the city gate, on the other side of a busy street. It's a fairly easy trip. Last year, we stayed in an apartment hotel along that tram line. However, when going to a new address that late at night, and burdened with luggage, I would always choose to take a taxi that first time.

The same tickets are used for metro, buses and trams. You will need 2 tickets each for this journey: one for metro and one for tram. You can buy them at the metro station at Termini.

You don't need a different ticket for the tram. The metro ticket can be used on the tram, unless your metro journey took more than 100 minutes, which wouldn't happen unless the train got stuck for 90 minutes.

you might also have direct bus options from termini station, depending on your address, do not limit yourself to the tram line. Maybe be better if you can give an address.

Thanks for all your help. We have booked a taxi to get us sorted for the first night. After that we will be able to explore without luggage. Many thanks!
