7 Day travel ticket

Hi All.

We will be in Rome for 8 days in October, staying not far from the Valle Aurelia station on the Metro A line, on the west of the city. We are considering buying ATAC 7 day travel tickets. A few queries please.

(i) Is it possible to buy them at Ciampino airport ?

If not, can they be bought at a sales point at Anagnina metro station?

(ii) Do they cover metro, buses and trams ?

(iii) Does the standard version cover bus/train travel to Tivoli and Ostia Antica ?

(iv) Is it active from the time of first use, as opposed to when purchased?

(v) Does it need to be stamped only once ?

If so, is it then a matter of having it available for inspection if asked ?

Many thanks for your advice.

I don't believe you can buy them at CIA.

You should be able to buy them at any metro station.

Yes, the cover metro, buses and trams

I know it will cover the trip to Ostia Antica but can't remember if it covers Tivoli as well.

It's active the first time you scan it.

Yes, only validate it once.

Jut keep it with you in case you're asked to show it.

I) I suppose yes, anyway they are not valid for the bus ATRAL Ciampino-Anagnina, so it makes no difference buying them here or there. There is a vending machine in the place in front of the Airport, close to the start of the shuttle buses; I suppose you can buy the 7 days tickets too.

II) Yes.

III) Tivoli is other town, so they are not valid. Ostia is part of Rome, so they are valid.

IV) From the time of first use, until the seventh midnight (so if you validate it on Monday, no matter at what time, they are valid until the Midnight between next Sunday and next Monday).

V) Yes, but they must be validated each time at the turnstiles in the metro (the machine notices they are valid and gives them back opening the turnstile).

Yes, you must pass it through the machine to get on the metro but it only validates it once. For the bus you don't need to do anything after the first use.
