Budget rome accommodation

Hi,

I'm travelling to rome next year and was seeking some budget accommodation (hostel are fine) in the city centre. I only have two days to see as much as possible. Any information will be very helpful.

If you know of any good tour companies in rome as well that would be helpful!

Thanks = )

A good budget hostel is The Beehive.

I am surprized you wan to spend money on tours instead of doing it yourself, since you are on a budget and staying in a hostel

Hi brindoss, I have taken almost every tour possible in Rome. This past October I took two walking food tours that were wonderful. I love tours even when I am on a budget. I love the social aspect of tours. I have met a lot of wonderful people on tours. I also have gotten a lot more out of tours than I would have with a guidebook. One tour you should not miss in Rome is the Colosseum and Forum tour. I have done this tour several times. I can't remember any particular tour operator. I have picked up this tour by going to the Colosseum and joining an English speaking tour near the entrance. This was never hard to do. The Vatican Museum tour was not a good tour for me since the collections are so vast and there is no way that any guide could even scratch the surface in the hours allotted to the tour. I recommend you to take the audio self guided tour for the Vatican Museum. Ditto for the Uffizi in Florence if you are going there.

I used to book hotels and B and B's in Rome. Now I book apartments. They are much cheaper. For the past two years I have been booking through AirBnB in Europe and the US. I have gotten some great deals with them. I have also booked through VRBO, Booking.com and Venere. They all have something to offer, but you must carefully read the reviews that are posted and decide the best areas for you to stay in the places you want to visit A little research is in order. Have a great vacation.
