Hotel Suggestions?- budget friendly, good location

We are looking to spend 2 nights in Rome before getting on a cruise. I am looking for hotel suggestions that are budget friendly, clean and in a good location close to sites and nightlife. I feel overwhelmed by all of the options and it would be helpful to have a place to start. We are travelling at the end of September.

Everywhere in central Rome is close to some sites of interest . If you are using the train to get to the cruise terminal then consider the termini area which has excellent bus and metro links if you don't fancy too much walking. We recently got a good deal at The hotel Independent - not travelled yet but it has some good reviews ,we have stayed at other good budget hotels in this same area see what you can find and then check the reviews on here -remember to ignore the 'terribles' if there are only a few, look at what the 'goods' and' averages' say , you will be able to pick up tips on breakfast, nearby restaurants, wifi etc if these are important to you.

We stayed at Hotel Parlamento. tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g187791-d238483…

This is near the Trevi Fountain and down the street from Galleria Dora Pamphilij tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g187791-d243…

The hotel if right at a bus interchange if you don't feel like walking. The little electric bus that runs from the Borghese Gardens and through Campo Fiori stops there too.
