Here are five suggestions of different Roman foods to try:

Cacio e pepe -- literally just cheese and pepper. Simple, but it can be delicious. Here's a top ten list: buzzinrome.com/2012/…

If in season, get artichokes (either Roman style or Jewish style, both very tasty).

Take away pizza bianca from the Forno at Campo de' Fiori is an amazing cheap and yummy treat.

Gnochhi -- potato dumplings traditionally served on Thursdays.
