vineyards close to Rome

I will be visiting Rome in the beginning of June and me and my boyfriend want to rent a scooter and go to the vineyard near by. Can anyone recommend which one to go? I saw there are excursions with viator but we would like to do it on our own.

Before you set your heart on doing it alone, consider that you have to make appointments (can't just show up); you need to speak italian (as almost no one in the wineries in Lazio speaks english); and the traffic that you need to negotiate with the scooter.

You would just be crazy to try and do this on your own, as romantic as it may sound. The traffic is insane. Walk to a nice wine bar instead, and live to tell the tale another day.
