Rome-Pisa-Venice

I would like to do a trip from Rome to Pisa and then Venice return. Can you suggest possible route and transportation details?

Well, the route is to go from Rome to Pisa, Pisa to Venice, and Venice to Rome. The only public transport is by train, and there is only one route between these cities.

For the best prices on the fast trains, book direct with the operator as far ahead as possible. Trenitalia tickets go on sale 4 months before travel, Italo rather less predictably, and the cheapest tickets often sell out quickly. Discounted ticket prices keep going up as the travel date gets closer.

You can get train times and costs from www.trenitalia.com clicking on the UK flag to change to English and using the Italian names for towns, or from the competitor on major routes http://www.italotreno.it/EN

Note that not all trains for these routes have times online past June 14. Use a current date to see the full service, which will not change much or at all on later dates. If booking in advance, you can book the trains from Firenze S. M. Novella (Florence) to Venezia S. Lucia as these are online 120 days ahead, and buy tickets for Pisa Centrale to Firenze in Italy, as the frequent Regional trains on this line have no advance reductions and no reserved seats so cannot sell out.

The Pisa/Florence route is a regional train, don't forget to validate your ticket in the machine.
