Granita shop/ stall in Rome?

Hi, last time we were in Rome we bought granitas from a little stall outside Vatican. Basically the guy inside spend all night shaving this massive block of ice, and on the back wall they had zillions of flavours to choose from to add to the ice( plus coconut / fruit toppings). We promised the kids the same experience( went minus the kids last time) and to our horror found the stall not open in the last 3 days. We did go in the middle of August last time so it was HOT.

Can anyone recommend something similar somewhere else in Rome? We only have 3 days left of our holiday so want to find something before we leave. We did find ready made granitas in some ice cream shops but would prefer the flavour adding to ice choice.

Thanks!

There's one in Trastevere, at the intersection between lungotevere Sanzio and viale Trastevere. Another one is located at piazza Ravizza, in front of the stop of tram line # 8. There is yet another one at piazza Buenos Aires in the Trieste district, another in via Giovanni Branca (Testaccio) and another oneis located at the end of pons Cestius. Oh, and there's one at via di Porta Cavalleggeri (near the Vatican)!

Hope it helps.

Thanks for the reply! It's the one at via de porta Cavalleggeri I meant - we are staying just round the corner from there. It's not open at the moment. Mean to go to Trastavere on Tuesday, will check it out. Still worry granitas are perhaps not a April thing.

One more question - are granitas generally an outside stall thing?
