Family friendly Trattorias - Staying at St. Regis

We are traveling to Italy for the first time in August, and staying at the St. Regis and looking for recos for restaurants near the St. Regis or within walking distance, as we will be out touring all day each day.

Thank you in advance!

If you happen to be near the Colosseum when you get hungry, Luzzi, just a few blocks further in Via di San Giovanni in Laterano fairly convenient, friendly, and fun. It can also be crowded, noisy and annoying for people who can't handle that sort of thing. We try to swing by every time we visit.

But honestly, Rome (and all of Italy) is a very family oriented sort of place compared to the US. If you have a suitable mobile device I highly recommend the restaurant guides (and websites) of Elizabeth Minchilli ( elizabethminchilliinrome.com/apps-rome-venic… ) and Katie Parla ( http://www.parlafood.com/rome-for-foodies/ ). Don't forget to load up Yelp as well.

When looking at restaurant menus (they're all posted outside) avoid places that have them posted in 5 languages, look for clientele that appears non-touristy, and dive in and have fun!
