Best way to get from Rome to Civitavecchia Port

We will be travelling from the Gallileo Hotel, vie Palestro 33 Rome to meet our cruise ship which departs from the Civitavecchia port.

What is the easiest and best way to travel (and most economical) to this port - we believe it will take approx. 1 1/2 to 2 hours.

If your luggage is not too difficult to handle yourselves, you can take the train from Termini or a few other stops in Rome. It takes a little more than an hour, but allow extra time if you leave from Termini because some of the departure platforms are a 10-minute walk from the front of the station.

All the options are explained in the Top Question "To and from Civitavecchia" at top right of this page.

I am looking into the same option for taking the train to the port, seems a lot cheaper then a private transfer. I am looking at a fast train it's 9 euros a person.I have a couple of questions, do you keep your luggage with you on the train and how far is it from the train station to the port and what's the best way to get there. Our hotel in Rome seems pretty close to the station there so we could walk

You carry your luggage on board. There are overhead racks for small items and storage at the end of the car for larger ones.

The €9 price for a fast train will be a discounted advance purchase ticket which will commit you to using the booked train. The walk-up price for the fast trains is €15. You might do better to take an ordinary train for €5. Tickets bought in Italy can be used on any train.

Depending on which platform is used at Civitavecchia, you may have to go down a flight of stairs, along an underground passage, and up stairs at the far end. The walk from the station to the port gates takes about 10 minutes along flat and level sidewalk.

We are arriving at the port by rental car, returning it to the Europcar office on Via Tarquinia in Civitavecchia. Is there a Celebrity shuttle that runs from the port entrance to the ship?

You might want to visit the Cruise Critic forum for your answer. There are specific Celebrity forums as well of specific port forums.

From what I've read for our upcoming cruise, the answer is yes.

The Europcar office on Via Tarquinia is right near Via Turco, where the port shuttle bus picks up passengers to bring them to the ships.

Thank you. We took the shuttle from the ship to Via Turco this past spring but we did not know if the shuttle also picked up at Via Turco.
