Easy to train from Termini to Colosseo station @ 830pm?

Hi my wife and I would arrive at Rome on Weds @ 710pm. Our accommodation is near the Colosseum.

We have 2 large suitcases with us and wondering would it be easier to just catch a cab? or can we just train it? we most likely we be around termini around 8-830 would the trains be jam pack to the Colosseo?

Thanks in advance

No, the metro should be fine at that hour. Are you arriving by train, or plane?

Hi thanks for the reply.

We are flying in from Abu Dhabi. And planning to train it to termini. Unless cab from airport?

If you're arriving at the airport, you can catch the Leonardo Express from the airport to Termini. Switch to Metro B line, direction of Laurentina. The second stop is Colosseo.

You might want to map your hotel from the Colosseum (the exit from the Colosseo stop is directly across the street from the Colosseum). If it is more than a 10-minute walk, I'd consider just taking a taxi from the airport.

While walking may not be an issue, the streets can sometimes be tricky (cobblestones are really nasty when you are trying to pull large pieces of luggage across them) and if your hotel is not on a main drag, you chance getting lost if it is dark when you arrive. However, if you are going in summer, it will probably still be light enough to navigate at 8:30pm.

Buon viaggio!

For two people the cost of the train from the airport to Termini is 28 Euro, then the metro from Termini to Colosseo is 3 Euro, for a total of 31. On top of that you have the walk with your luggage from the terminal to the train station at the airport, then from the train to the metro, and from the metro to your hotel.

For the fixed fare of 48 Euro you can be driven directly from the airport terminal to your hotel. Yes, it costs 17 Euro more (50% more) but I think it's a bargain when you consider the time and the ease.

Thanks for all the great answers exactly what i was after. Will might consider the taxi from the airport just the ease and less fuss about pick pockets, trains change and walk after a long flight.

with the fix taxi fare is that negotiated with the driver or with the airport? and is there any taxi companies to avoid?

Thanks for the info really appreciate it =)

Taxi to/from airport is fixed price as long as its a Rome taxi (not Fiumicino). No companies to avoid - just ensure its a Rome taxi. Easily identifiable as they have the price on the door and the driver will be obliged to offer you a flat fare.

A quick search on this forum will give you more details. A quick Google search will give you even more.

It's simple,no negotiation, no luggage fees, no supplements, no nothing. Flat fare. Anything else and you know they're trying it on. The price will be displayed on the door. Hope this helps.
