Pre -booking?

Is it necessary to pre-book tickets to any of the major attractions like The Vatican or Colliseum etc?

If tickets should be pre-booked can we do it online or should we wait until we get to Rome?

Thank you.

Yes, I would say strongly recommended. Are you planning to do your own self-touring or book a tour guide?

We booked a guide for our Tour of the Vatican and it included St. Peter's Basilica and the Sistine Chapel. Admission to the Vatican is E13.00 pp and St. Peter's has no admission fee.

We booked a tour of the Colosseum w/ the Colosseum staff when we purchased our admission tickets. It was very inexpensive but we were in a group of about 40 people and had difficulty hearing the guide when we got in the back of the group.

We pre-booked our Vatican b4 we left home so we knew we would have a tour already booked. We used Angel Tours and were very satisfied w/ their tour.

You can check out their website. Others will have recommendations for you also. Or do a search for tour guides here on TA and you will see lots of recommendations.
