3 nights in Bologna - RSM day trip

Hi, looking at 3 nights here with seeing San Marino as a day trip. I've had a quick look but can't find any tours - can anyone suggest any? Alternatively, I think we can train to Rimini and bus to RSM. Is public transport regular on Sundays and can we get a good feel to the place in a day? We were going to stay a night but for a short visit it's too much moving about I feel. Thanks.
