Rail discounts for over 65's

We are visiting Bologna next week and would like to know if there are any discounts/reductions on day trip Rail Tickets for the over 65's?

There are no day trip tickets: you get 2 one-way tickets. And there are no seniors discounts unless you buy a discount card, which would not be worthwhile for you.

The silver card is free only if you are already 75 at least; oyherwise you pay it € 30,00

And it doesn't give discounts on Regional trains, and only 15% off the full Base price of trains with reserved seats, and nothing off advance discount fares. So unless you're thinking of spending €200+ each on day trips at the full fare.....

perilizia, that depends upon each Region's agreements. You get 15% off in Emilia-Romagna, when buying regional tickets with "Carta d'Argento" (eng: silver card) ;)
