Mosaics, Ravanna is mosaics capital city.
It's listed in UNESCO world heritage sites.
Went to web site but sadly I don't speak Italian so could not read it. Is there an English version?
I googled it and came up with.......http://whc.unesco.org/en/list/788 Sorry, I don't know how to get the site in here so all you have to do is click on it like Tabata did. Maybe someone can tell me how to do that. Are you going to Ravenna, grannytravels?
The mosaics are simply amazing: http://whc.unesco.org/en/list/788
Also, look to the top for Things to Do and click that tab for add'l information.
The page I gave you have an English version too, you only have to look for it
what to see? It also depends much upon your interests.
I went there on a day trip from Bologna. Was not feeling well, so didn't do as much as had wanted, but it struck me as a very pleasant and walkable town. I only managed to get to two of the mosaic sites, but I think they were probably the most important ones: the small mausoleum of Gallida Placidia (excusing spelling errors), which I found spectacular and the church next door (San Vitale?). Because of not feeling well, didn't make the other mosaic sites, but really loved what I saw and enjoyed the walk to and from the train station.
