Would this work?

Hi everyone - spending 2 full days in CT end of Sept, staying in Corniglia for 3 nights.

Day one - Walk from Corniglia to Monterosso for lunch & swim then ferry to Riomaggiore and walk back to Corniglia.

Day two - Walk to and from Venazza to spend a few relaxing hours before heading back to Corniglia for dinner. (Am especially keen to spend my hard earned money in Vernazza to help their economy).

Would this work ok?

Thanks

It will depend on whether the trails are open. Any of them can be closed with no notice because of rain or landslide.

Make detailed plans for your time in the CT when you get there.

Not sure if the local ferries work at that time.

The ferries run til September. The part of your walk from Corniglia to Monterosso makes sense, as that part of the trail will be open quite soon for tourists, and should be fine as well in September. However, the main part of the coastal trail connecting Manarola to Corniglia was closed last year (unrelated to the flood) and may or may not reopen this year. There is an alternate walk on the higher trail, but it is much more challenging, so just be prepared for that. As sydneynick said, check when your trip gets closer.

As for spending your money helping the towns harmed in the flood rebuild, you have the right idea having lunch in Monterosso, but why not dinner in Vernazza if you want to help them out too? :)

Traditionally the ferries run until the Nov 1st holiday weekend. They will surely be running in September.
