Hello! We plan on going to Cinque Terre for two nights in January 2014.
We are aware that a lot of hotels, B&Bs and restaurants will be closed during that time but we really want to visit Cinque Terre during our trip to Italy. I've also read that the ferries do not operate during that time, which I'm really disappointed about, but I figured we can still do the hikes if the weather is good.
As of now, based on current availability, I've narrowed it down to staying in either Monterosso or Manarola. I've read that Monterosso is larger and has more restaurants/stores while Manarola is smaller and quieter. I'm leaner more towards Manarola but since it's smaller, will my restaurant options be really limited in January? We would prefer to eat at the local restaurants instead of in our room as we have heard that the food in CT is amazing.
As far as accommodations go, I'm debating between:
A Ca du Gigante in Monterosso
Arpaiu in Manarola
Affittacamere San Giorgio in Manarola - It's only 2 stars but according to the reviews, website and pictures, the rooms look very clean and new with a good size bathroom and good amenities.
La Mala in Vernazza, Villa Steno, Hotel Pasquale, La Colonnina in Monterosso and La Torretta in Manarola are all closed in January. La Spiaggia told me to check back in July/August for availability.
Can anybody give me any input on which place is better to stay in January and any feedback on the B&Bs mentioned above? I've looked at all the TA reviews but wanted to see if anybody on here had any other advice or tips.
Thank in advance!Edited: 14 June 2013, 21:13
