Florence first or CT from Verona in September?

Taking a much anticipated holiday to Italy in September this year. Starting in Venice then working our way down to end with a few nights in Malta. Attempting toascertain wether it would be better to go to CT from Verona and then on to Florence or the other way around with the next destination Rome.

If you're travelling by train, there isn't a direct line to CT, but to Florence yes.

In a limited period of time, a couple of hours can make a difference.

Please note you have the option to fly to Malta even from Trieste.
