What to see and where to go in Genoa

I'm at the start of a three days in Genoa and after walking around a bit I get the feeling that there is a lot more to do here than my travel book lets on (Lets Go Europe on a Budget! and Eyewitness Travel- Italy), they only seem to discuss the area around Piazza de Ferari.

My interest are mostly in Art, Architecture, and wondering around admiring Churches (mainly because they are good examples of the first two). I also enjoy taking photos with a tripod at night and was wondering if anyone had a good suggestion of where to start.

Thanks for the help!

If you are into churches, try visting these ones:

- Santa Maria di Castello (in the 'centro storico')

- Santa Caterina

- San Bartolomeo degli Armeni

Also, Santo Stefano (a small Romanesque church just above Via Venti Settembre) - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Santo_Stefano_(Genoa)

Personally, I like a lot also the shrine of Nostra Signora della Guardia, on the top of a mountain about 45 minutes by bus from the center -- …wikipedia.org/wiki/Shrine_of_N.S._della_Gua…
