La Spezia in April - what should we see?

I know nothing about this area of italy - in fact i have not been to italy before and we are arriving ther by cruise ship for one day - any thoughts on what we can do independently of the prearranged shore excursion?. We only have from 9 til 6 so wont want to travel too far

Depends on the date in April, Thye ferries to portovenere and the cinque terre usually commence in time for Easter so these are well worth a visit. I think the tenders come in a few yards away from where the tourists boats depart. the departures from La Spezia should time well with your arrival then they stop running for about 2 1/2 for lunch and recoomence in the afternoon.

La Spezia is amodern city and has a number of museums. restaurants etc and good shops in the pedestianised area but thse will close netween 12.30 to 3.30
