La Spezia to Pisa

We are traveling to La Spezia in the beginning of August. Would like to take the train to Pisa. This is our first time in Italy so would love someone to walk us through it.

Thank you,

Go to La Spezia train station. You can buy your tickets from a staffed ticket office (where the agent will have at least some English) or from a ticket machine that can be set to work in English. Buy your return tickets at the same time, to avoid a possible queue in Pisa.

The stations will have departure screens, a bit like those at airports, headed "Partenze". These show the departure time, the train number, the final destination (which may be beyond where you are going), and the platform (binario) that will be used. If in doubt about which platform to use, ask.

You must time-stamp your ticket in a yellow machine at the station to make it valid for travel. Go to the right platform, and get on the train when it arrives. There are no reserved seats on these local trains.

Hi, can you tell me what train station is best from the port in La Spezia? There is Centrale, Main Station and Migliarina.

There Is Centrale which is the main station and Migliarina which is a suburb of La Spezia so the one you want is Centrale

If you arrive in Pisa Centrale come out of the train station, walk accross the Piazza and cross the road to the bus stop outside the NH Cavalieri Hotel. Take the bus Lam Rossa to the tower a bus ticket is valid for 70 mins and costs 1 euro 10c and may be bought from the newsagents in the main booking hall at the station. You can buy a ticket for your return if you plan to stay there longer and remember to validate the ticket on the bus

If you are on a regional train from La spezia it may be possible to leave the train at St Rossore which is a few minutes walk and the Tower and Duomo are visible on your arrival at the station.
