Need train advice SML to Rome

Travelling 17 May SML to Rome. One option I can so far see on Trenitalia is 12:00 from Rapallo arriving La Spezia at 12:57(regional train) and departing LaSpezia at 13:07 (Freccabianca). But 10 minutes seems very short and we have luggage of course.

There is a direct regional train Rapallo/Rome departing 13:23 arriving 16:28. This is only a regional train, but I guess the less comfortable train is made up the the direct service?

Has anyone done these services? Is F class regional OK?

To see all the trains, use www.trenitalia.com/homepage_en.html

When you get the second page, listing possible trains, click the "All solutions" button to ensure that all trains are shown.

It shows to me the first option leaving at 11.57 from Santa Margherita with a regional train, changing in La Spezia and catching the Freccia Bianca

(high speed Eurostar train) arriving to Rome at 16.28 at the cost of 58.10 Euros.

The next leaves SML at 13.01, changes at Sestri Levante to catch an Intercity train arriving at 18.28 and saving 16 Euros.

Sometimes passangers have to hurry for the changes. In May there shouldn't be remarkable delays.

If you don't mind the taxi fare for a ride of only four miles, there are direct trains from Rapallo to Rome at 13.23, 15.23 and 17.23.

The 13.23 is not a Regional train, it s a fast "InterCity" train with compulsory reserved seating throughout (which comes with your ticket). This train will appear older than the other two which are more expensive and have recently renovated carriages. It makes a couple of more stops, but will probably be just as comfortable.
