Como/Cernobbio or Stressa as base with 3 kids?

Hi, we are planning on visiting either Lake Como or Lake Maggiore in mid-June with our 3 kids, ages 11,10, and 6. We only have a couple of days there and are flying out of Malpensa, so we need to stay fairly close to the southern end of either lake. Which would be a better base, Stressa, or Como/Cernobbio? Would love to stay at Villa D'Este in Cernobbio, but, after renting a villa for a week in Tuscany (before getting to the lakes), it's kind of hard to justify the price.... Thank you!

Why don't you look at the Regina Palace or Grand Hotel Des Iles Borromees in Stresa? Only a 45 min drive from Stresa to Malpensa or take a look at Lake Maggiore page for info about the Alibus shuttle from Mxp to Stresa.

Thank you for your reply. In your opinion, which hotel would be better located? We would maybe like to walk around at night and go to restaurants. Also, what activities would you recommend for us to do with the kids?

They are both ideal only 2 mins walk from one to other!
