I have read thread after thread and with each become more and more undecided. Please give me your opinion? After spending 3 days in Venice we head to Bellagio on Lake Como for 3 nights and then to Milan for a mid-morning flight back to Paris. (Note we will not be spending any time in Milan just catching the flight) I am trying to decide if it is best to rent a car in Venice to take to Bellagio and then we will return it to MXP when we depart to Paris, or is it better to use the train/ferry options between the cities?
Running the $'s there is not much difference between renting a car and taking the train/ferry, so that is where I begin to have trouble deciding. Is it better or more convenient to have a car for this leg of the trip or is it just a hassle. I like the convenience of being able to stop where ever we want on our way to Bellagio to take in Italy. I also thought it might be nice to have a car to travel between cities in Lake Como. At the same time though the train/ferry system’s seem very convenient.
What are your top pros or cons to renting a car versus taking the trains/ferry?
Thanks for your insight!
