Bringing luggages from Malpensa to Lake Como

My wife, 10 year old son and I are traveling to Milan in May 2013 and are considering a 1 or 2 night stay at Lake Como before returning to Milan for the rest of our trip.

Question is; is it convenient to travel by train to Como with 3 large luggages via the Malpensa Express and thereafter by bus to our final hotel destination at Lake Como?

Any advise on this is greatly appreciated.

As long as you're able to manage your own luggage it is fne. Any train you take in Italy you will have to manage everything yourself as there are no porters. Depending on what town you're staying in you can easily take a train to Lake Como and not have to take a bus.

You're more likely to have trouble with bags on the bus than the train. Some drivers are less than sympathetic, but as #1 said -- provided you can manage them yourselves, you'll probably be fine.
