Where to stay?

Hi,

My Mum and I are thinking about going to Lake Como early-mid June for around a week. We like to be fairly chilled during the day, maybe have the odd day or two exploring (possibly by ferry etc) but during the evening we like to go out for dinner where there's a bit more of a buzz! Definitely want to have views of the lake. Where would be the best place for this atmosphere that's around 3/4 star hotels that aren't too pricey? Last year we went to Taormina in Sicily - loved the atmosphere and whilst our hotel was slightly out of town, there was a great shuttle service (Hotel Villa Angela - highly recommend it!) and all the staff were really friendly. This has set the bar pretty high for this year so no pressure!

Hope that makes sense - thank you!

Have a look at the Hotel Metropole in Bellagio.

Hi, Bellagio is the livlier of the villages on the lake so that would be your best option.

If you loved the atmosphere of Taormina and the lovely Villa Angela, you would probably prefer Bellagio to other towns, and the Hotel Metropole is lakefront, but also take a look at the Hotel Du Lac in Varenna, which is also lakefront.
