We'll be staying at the Barchetta Excelsior in Como in September and are planning a day trip to Lugano. We figured out that we need to take a bus/walk to the San Giovanni train station in Como to catch a train to Lugano. However, we're not clear on which stop to get off on in Lugano to most easily access the city center. We have been studying the SBB train schedules, so we almost have the hang of it.
We would also like to venture to Positano. We am not in tip top shape and consider anything over a half mile at a time walking too far.
1. Is it easier to take a boat from Como to Lugano? Same for Lugano to Positano, and back to Como?
2. Which buses run near the Barchetta Excelsior to the San Giovanni train station?
3. If the train is the better option, which stop will put me closest to the city center in Lugano if traveling from Como?
Thank you for your input!
